Passion versus Love!
The sky roared mercilessly,
The trees shuddered in fear
The bells rang incessantly,
Whilst he watched her disappear
He watched her tread the deserted lane,
Till she went out of sight
Determined she was her strides told that,
For sure he knew she wouldn't turn back
And a pang shot through him,
Like the fierce lightning delivering its blow
On the same steps he fell again,
Where once they had taken their sacred vow.
Then his hands felt the weight,
This wasn't a dream for sure
Remorselessly she had returned it back,
And this was more than he could endure
The ring was a memoir,
A remembrance of the happy times they spent
Looking at it the memories flooded back,
All he wanted now was to run away from his present
Their love knew no boundaries,
They were the perfect couple
Incomplete they were apart,
Together they fit the entire puzzle
And then one day during their talks,
He told her what he wanted to be
But his interests didn't seem to go well with her,
And this is where things started getting ugly
She tried to dissuade him,
She tried her level best
But it was a dream since childhood he was pursuing,
How could he just step down at her behest
She loved him dearly,
She always wanted him near
Life with a serviceman wasn't easy she knew,
And this was precisely her greatest fear
She pleaded him to change his mind,
Brilliant,smart he was after all
Settlement however was never an option for him though,
And ahead he went with his call
He passed all his tests,
With flying colours he arose
She was the first one whom he broke this news to,
And with his each word her heart froze
He had brushed off her opinions she felt,
Her concern didn't matter at all
Enough of pleading was done already,
Now was the time to give him the last call
And so today when they met,
She asked him what he resolved
For him it was his passion versus love,
And he wanted both of them after all
She sensed his hesitation,
The passing minutes made it clear
He was reluctant to give a direct answer,
But this time she broke in tears
In a flash she took off the ring,
And placed it in his hand
He tried talking her out of this,
But she had now taken her stand
Giving him the final hug,
She bade him goodbye
Looking now at the retreating silhouette,
He was dumbstruck to even reply
And then there was a sudden outburst,
The billowy clouds had begun to weep
The mightiest of the mountains just had a landslide,
And even the sky now couldn't hide its grief!
